Philosophy

All about me and my approach to childcare.

My name is Juliet Cowan. I'm an Ofsted registered childminder in Walthamstow, London E17.

I'm an ex nurse, a trained mediator, and the mother of a feisty youngster. I’ve worked as a childminder since 2009.

Childhood should be a magical time for all children, and it's my aim to provide a happy, fun, healthy and loving environment for the children in my care. My setting is comfortable and well equipped – I have a wide range of toys, games and arts and crafts materials.

I'm based near Hillyfield Primary Academy (Hill site) in Walthamstow, London E17. I’m close to Blackhorse Road underground and overground stations and other transport links.

My home is a well managed setting, where your child will be encouraged and supported to develop the social skills that will help them be accepted and welcome in society as they grow.

Qualifications

I am:

registered as a childminder with Ofsted (Registration Number EY401621)
registered with Waltham Forest Council (Environmental Health - Food Premises Registration)
registered with The Information Commissioners Office (Data Protection Register)
a member of the Professional Association for Childcare and Early Years (PACEY) - formerly the National Child Minders Association (NCMA).

I hold a Level 3 Diploma in Home Based Childcare (Grade A), a current paediatric first aid certificate, and am fully insured. I am trained in safeguarding and child protection, and have a current DBS check. I have a Level 2 food safety qualification.
